Hi @GailC3,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thank you for reaching out regarding your HP LaserJet MFP M235 printer. We understand that you're experiencing interference with your home Wi-Fi network and wish to disable the Wi-Fi Direct feature on your printer.
Method 1: Use the Printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS)
- Find the Printer’s IP Address:
- On the printer control panel, print a Network Configuration Page (usually by pressing and holding the Information or Wireless button).
- Look for the IP address listed.
- Access the Embedded Web Server:
- Open a web browser on a device connected to the same network.
- Type the printer’s IP address into the address bar and press Enter.
- Disable Wi-Fi Direct:
- In the EWS, go to the Network or Wireless settings tab.
- Find the Wi-Fi Direct section.
- Set Wi-Fi Direct to Off or Disabled.
- Save the settings.
Method 2: Use HP Smart App (if supported)
- Open the HP Smart app on your phone or PC.
- Select your printer.
- Go to Advanced Settings (this opens the EWS).
- Follow the same steps as above to disable Wi-Fi Direct.
Method 3: Use Printer Control Panel (if available)
Some models allow toggling Wi-Fi Direct using button combinations:
- Press and hold the Wi-Fi Direct button and the Cancel button together for 3–5 seconds.
- This may toggle Wi-Fi Direct off (you can confirm by printing a network report again).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
