If both your phone and the printer are connected to the modem then you just select the "print". On my iPhone I see the following:
Printer | No printer selected |
and when I touch "Printer" it will go find it. and my HP printer will show up.
I only have to do this once unless the iPhone reboots from a new release or whatever. Then I have to tap "printer" again.
My android tablet finds my printer without having to tap anything.
None of these devices above need a password to print.
If you setup your printer to use Wi-Fi direct then you are bypassing the modem / router.
This means you need to find the SSID of the printer and connect to it using the Wi-Fi direct password. Your printer is probably on 2.4ghz band and possibly your smartphone is on the 5ghz band or vice-versa. if you smartphone can work in both bands at the same time then possibly printing direct will work.
General help for new router or connection.
1 - Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP printer
2 - Wi-Fi connection is lost after router or network settings change
3 - HP Smart help with printer connection.
Please provide the exact model name of the printer for better assistance as there may be videos to show how to connect.
