I just opened my own HP account because this whole time sharing printer with my roommate, I was told that I needed to just email him what I wanted to print and he had to print it. Anyway ever since then he had all my info photos, private documents. I finally had a chance to figure this printer out on my own. This is his printer but will I be able to print on my own from now on and will my files still be shared with him because we are using the same printer? Please help!!

If the printer is on the network,
If your room mate is willing to share the wireless password with you,
You can install the printer software, the printer application, and / or whatever mobile applications are applicable.
If your room mate is the one who told you that you have to email him your files, it might be that he has the printer connected via a USB cable directly to the printer and does not wish to share access.
Printer supports USB cable, Wireless (connected to a router), and Wi-Fi Direct (wireless without the need for a router).

I agree that it is not ideal that your room mate has your private data. There is no 'going back' from having sent him your information. The problem with email is that anyone who has access to his email would also have access to anything you have sent him. So... whether you are concerned might depend on what you have sent... If it makes things weird for you, best talk to him about it.

Thank you for that clarification. I understand that he shared the code with me because he said when I needed to print something and he wasn’t home I would have to go through a whole process of finding the printer WiFi and so on. So I finally decided that there had to be a much more convenient way around the situation, being that all I really print on the printer is address labels for my online store. Now that you have drilled it into me being that this is NOT my printer so I should e careful how I handle myself. I am just going to invest in my own and clear that whole dilemma, but my final question was actually now that I am connected on HP Smart is all my documents and photos installed into the printer where he would have access still. He already has the access because this whole time he was doing whatever the heck he was doing but anyway he did it and all I wanted was to stop it and handle my own printing in the meantime.

You are welcome.
Solution
Once you have your connection to the printer and can use the HP Smart for Windows application, anything you print will stay on your computer - only the print data for the job is sent to the printer.
The printer does not "have your data" in the sense that it does not store what it prints.
Assuming you are both happy to share the printer, this arrangement should work - each of you connects to the printer wirelessly and each of you prints what you like from your own computer.
