Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

I have had a laser jet m148fdw printer for some years now. I just changed my local network. I wanted to reconnect my printer to this network. When I went to the setup display on the printer, it asked me for a password. I don't remember the password that I had set up here. How do I reset this password or how do I reset the printer to factory settings (without needing this password)?

I read a similar thread. It mentioned going to the support website of HP. There I tried

- the virtual agent: it doesn't know my problem / doesn't respond to printer password inquiries

- I tried the "Buy Now" button of the "HP Out of Warranty Phone Support" -- this leads to a "This service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later." message.

- I am not an instant ink customer

- I am now at the "HP Support Community" where I didn't see an answer to my problem and hence am posting this.

If that doesn't help, I am left with throwing out my printer because my WLAN password changed?

Thank you for any help and merry Christmas.

Torsten

Hi @TorstenKlbg,

I'd like to help!

I understand your printer is locked with an administrator password.

We can perform a factory defaults on the printer to resolve the issue

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
  • In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Support Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
