Hi @coppertop123,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Photosmart 5520 e-All-in-One Printer series is not connecting, and the IP address is not connected, here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Restart Your Printer and Router:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from both the printer and the router.
  • Wait for 30 seconds.
  • Plug them back in and turn them on.
  • Try reconnecting the printer to your WiFi network.

2. Forget the Printer on Mac and Re-Add It:

  1. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Right-click (or Control-click) on the HP Photosmart 5520 in the list.
  3. Select Remove Printer.
  4. Restart your Mac.
  5. Add the printer back:
    • Click the + button at the bottom of the list.
    • Find the printer in the list, select it, and click Add.

3. Reconnect Using Wireless Direct:

  • Press the Wireless Direct button (a small icon resembling a mobile device with radiating lines) on the printer control panel.
  • A Wireless Direct network name and password will be displayed.
  • Connect your Mac to this network using the provided credentials.
  • Try printing or scanning from your Mac again.

4. Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause connectivity issues. Make sure your printer firmware is up to date:

  1. Press the Home button on your printer.
  2. Go to Settings > Tools > Printer Update.
  3. If an update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to install it.

5. Check Printer Network Settings:

  • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Network Settings > Wireless Settings to ensure the correct WiFi network is selected.
  • Enter the WiFi password if prompted.

6. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor: HP Print and Scan Doctor

HP provides a tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor that can help diagnose and fix connectivity issues between the Mac and the printer. You can download it from the HP support website.

After following these steps, your HP Photosmart 5520 printer should reconnect to your WiFi network. Let me know if you're still having trouble!
