I got a new computer from work that is connected to my wifi as was my printer before I got the new computer. Now the printer does not recognize the wifi and I have tried everything. So we think maybe restoring it to factory settings and then using the HP Smart will help. I really don't want to get a new printer. Someone suggested that my wifi board may have took an electrical hit and is no longer working.

Hi @gdoughtg,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Restoring your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e to its factory defaults can be a good way to resolve issues with Wi-Fi connectivity and other settings. Here’s how you can perform a factory reset on your printer:
Steps to Restore Factory Defaults
- Ensure the printer is turned on. If it’s not, press the power button to turn it on.
- On the printer's control panel, locate and press the Setup icon, which typically looks like a gear or wrench.
- Using the touchscreen or buttons, go to Printer Maintenance or Tools (the exact naming can vary).
- Look for an option labeled Restore Defaults, Factory Reset, or Reset Printer. This option is often found under Settings or Advanced Settings.
- Confirm that you want to restore the printer to its factory settings. Follow any on-screen instructions to complete the process.
- The printer may automatically restart after the reset. If not, turn it off and then back on.
Reconfigure the Printer After Reset
- After the reset, the printer will no longer be connected to your Wi-Fi network.
- Use the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network:
- Via Control Panel: Go to Setup > Network > Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the instructions to connect to your Wi-Fi network.
- Via HP Smart App: Open the HP Smart app on your computer or smartphone and follow the prompts to set up the printer on your network.
- Download and install the latest drivers for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e from the HP Support website. This ensures compatibility with your new computer.
- Print a test page or try scanning to ensure that the printer is correctly connected to the Wi-Fi and working with your new computer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

This was a very precise and helpful explanation. We followed all direction, but it seems that HP printer insists that it needs an ethernet cord, which it never needed before because it was connected to my wi-fi. I got a new computer and the printer no longer recognizes the wifi. We've tried everything. Even attached an ethernet cable and had no sucess. I think I have to buy another computer.
