Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have an HP 8020 OfficeJet Pro series.

The printer conneting to my wirless network.

I am getting on the wireless network and all my computers can recognize the printer but the printer shows as offline.

I need help getting the printer to show online.

I see in you technical support that there are users with the exact problem I describe.

I can't print from any of my computers when I'm connecting to my wirless network.

The only way I can print from my computers is if I connect to the printer using the Direct-xxx network using the password from the HP printer.

I am not trying to be on both wireless networks at the same time.

I am just trying to get the printer to show online when I am on the main network and the printer is on the same network.

As it is now, the printer shows as offline on the main network and I need to move back and forth between networks to print.

That is what I am trying to eliminate.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

The solution that worked for me at the end I found in the below link:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_2026537-1681507-16

I used the HP smart Diagnose & Fix icon.

The "tricky" part is to find the printer in the HP smart when I tried to add printer in the +Add printer.

Because of the problem I could not found the printer in my WiFi network.

So only to add the printed I switched to the printer Direct-xxx WiFi network, add the printer, switch back to my WiFi network, open the HP smart and use the diagnostics and fix.

This solve my problem, and I printing in my printer for few weeks , also from other comuters in my WiFi Network.

Hope this will help others since this problem is very common, and I'm not the only one who reported this issue.

Thanks,

Avi.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting the offline error, I am glad to assist you.

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to fix connectivity and printing issues.

Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.

  • Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.
  • Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.
  • If your printer is not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.
  • If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  • If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.
  • If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.
  • Try to print.

.Assign a manual IP address to manually connect the printer.

Find the printer IP address from the network configuration page to assign it manually.

  • A Network Configuration Page lists important network settings such as network status and the printer IP address.
  • Make sure the printer is on and there is paper in the tray.
  • From the home screen on the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard.
  • Touch the Setup icon, and then go to Reports > Network Configuration Page.

Setting a Static IP Address

Once you know your printer’s IP address from the page you printed, entering it is pretty easy. Here’s what you do:

HP Printer Static IP Address

  1. Run your Web browser.
  2. In the Web browser’s address bar, type the IP address of your printer and press Enter. Assuming you entered the right address, the HP printer control panel should appear.
  3. Click the Networking tab.
  4. Under Connections, click Wireless.
  5. Under IP Address Configuration, click Manual IP.
  6. Enter the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway in the appropriate boxes.
  7. Click Apply.
