Hi

I have a hp envy 5532 printer and was working fine, I have now changed my router to a Vodafone powerhub (fibre network) and the printer cannot connect either through password or wps button, the router has an entry in the settings for the printer but they are not talking, I have seen suggestions of mac filtering but I cannot see the setting in the router setup (advanced options on) I am paying £4 a month whilst not being able to use the printer......

@Fortean101, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Network Connectivity for HP Envy 5532 with Vodafone Powerhub!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP Envy 5532 printer is having trouble connecting to your new Vodafone Powerhub router, here are some steps and considerations you might follow to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Wireless Setup Wizard:

  • Access Printer Control Panel: On your printer's control panel, select (right arrow), then Setup, followed by Network.
  • Select Wireless Setup Wizard: This option will guide you through connecting your printer to the new network. Ensure you have your SSID (network name) and wireless password ready.

2. Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS):

  • Check Router for WPS Button: If your router supports WPS, press the WPS button on your router first.
  • Printer Setup using WPS: On the printer control panel, select Wi-Fi Protected Setup, then follow the prompts to use either the Push Button or PIN method.

3. MAC Filtering:

  • Router Configuration: If your router conforms to MAC filtering (restricts devices based on hardware addresses), ensure the printer's MAC address is whitelisted:
    • Locate Printer MAC Address: Print the network configuration page from the printer to find its MAC address.
    • Add MAC Address to Router: Access your router's configuration page, and add the printer's MAC address to the list of allowed devices.
    • Note: This feature might not be recommended due to security vulnerabilities (MAC addresses can be spoofed).

4. Ensuring Network Compatibility:

  • SSID and Password: Confirm you are entering the correct network name and password. Be careful with uppercase, lowercase, and special characters in the password.
  • Compatibility: Ensure your router supports the 2.4GHz band which most printers use to connect wirelessly.

5. Reboot Devices:

  • Powercycle your printer, router, and modem. Sometimes restarting these devices can resolve connectivity issues.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
