Hi @Pasenior

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

Steps to Fix Purple Screen on HP OfficeJet 4650

1. Perform a Hard Reset

A simple reset might resolve temporary issues such as a purple screen or unresponsiveness.

  1. Turn off the printer using the power button.
  2. Unplug the printer from the power source.
  3. Wait for 30 seconds to 1 minute to allow the printer to fully power down.
  4. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check if the purple screen goes away after the reset.

2. Check for Firmware Update

Sometimes, a firmware glitch could cause display issues. If your printer is still able to connect to Wi-Fi or is accessible via HP Smart or your PC, you may want to check for a firmware update.

  • Using HP Smart or your computer: Open the HP Smart app or the HP Printer Assistant on your PC.
  • Look for Firmware Updates in the settings and follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware.

If your printer is not responsive enough to do this, we can skip this step for now.

3. Perform a Printer Self-Test (Diagnostic Page)

To check if it's a software issue or if there's a problem with the printer's hardware, you can try printing a self-test page. If the printer is still responsive enough, this can help narrow down the problem.

  1. Turn the printer off and then on again.
  2. **Press and hold the Cancel and Resume buttons simultaneously.
  3. Release both buttons after about 5-10 seconds.
  4. The printer should print out a Diagnostic Page.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
