I’m having trouble connecting my HP officejet printer pro 6830 to our new sky router. Wifi name SKYK5MMS. We have tried most things including factory reset on the printer? Switching of the router and switching off the printer and re starting. Tried the WPS and passwords and still not pairing. We have followed video instructions and it’s still not pairing.

@Gina145, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP OfficeJet Pro not connecting to your sky router!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like you've already tried several troubleshooting steps, but let's go through a few more targeted solutions to help your HP OfficeJet Pro 6830 connect to your Sky router:

1. Check Router Settings

  • 2.4GHz vs 5GHz: The HP OfficeJet Pro 6830 only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, so ensure your router is broadcasting both 2.4GHz and 5GHz separately. If your Sky router combines both under one SSID, try disabling 5GHz temporarily and connect again.
  • Wireless Mode: Log into your router settings and set the Wi-Fi mode to 802.11b/g/n instead of mixed or 802.11ac.

2. Manually Enter Wi-Fi Details

Instead of using WPS, try entering the network details manually:

  1. On the printer, go to Wireless Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard.
  2. Select your Wi-Fi (SKYK5MMS).
  3. Enter the Wi-Fi password carefully (case-sensitive).
  4. Try connecting.

3. Assign a Static IP

  1. Print a Network Configuration Report from the printer’s settings.
  2. Note down the current IP address, Subnet Mask, and Gateway.
  3. Go to Printer Settings > Wireless > Advanced Settings and manually enter these values.
  4. Set Google DNS (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4) as the DNS server.

4. Update Printer Firmware

  1. Connect the printer via USB to a computer.
  2. Visit HP Support and download the latest firmware for HP OfficeJet Pro 6830.
  3. Run the update and restart.

5. Check MAC Filtering on Router

  • If MAC address filtering is enabled on your Sky router, add your printer’s MAC address (found in the Network Configuration Report) to the allowed list.

6. Reset Network Settings on Printer

  1. On the printer, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Defaults.
  2. Select Restore Network Settings.
  3. Restart both the printer and the router.

7. Try Connecting via Ethernet

  • If your printer has an Ethernet port, try connecting it directly to the router as a temporary workaround.

If none of these steps work, let me know exactly where the issue occurs (e.g., "can't find network," "wrong password," "connects but doesn't print"), and I’ll guide you further! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
