Looks like the MAC address for the wi-fi on the printer is different than the MAC address of the wi-fi. The printer says not connected to wi-fi then it does. But, not connected to internet. This just happened all of a sudden, Nothing changed. Can't print form any computer, Chromebook or mac or android phone or iphone. Printer broke???

@JEVANS6, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 is experiencing intermittent Wi-Fi connectivity issues or shows discrepancies with the MAC address, follow the troubleshooting steps below:
Power Cycle the Printer: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in and powering it up.
Verify Wi-Fi Settings: Ensure that the printer is on the same network (SSID) as your devices. Access the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) to check Wi-Fi settings.
Print Wireless Test Report: This report provides diagnostic information about the connection status and can indicate problems with the configuration:
- From the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard.
- Tap the Wireless button, then tap Settings.
- Tap Print Reports, and select Wireless Test Report.
Check Wi-Fi Direct: If you're using Wi-Fi Direct to connect:
- Confirm Wi-Fi Direct is turned on in the printer settings.
- Ensure your mobile devices have installed the HP Print Service Plugin.
- Choose the printer's Wi-Fi Direct network name correctly.
Update Firmware: Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause connectivity issues. Check for any available updates through the printer's settings or HP's support website.
MAC Address Display Issue: If the Wi-Fi Direct MAC Address is shown instead of the Wi-Fi Direct Name, restarting the printer after configuring Wi-Fi Direct in the EWS can resolve this issue.
Reconfigure Wireless Settings:
- Access the printer’s control panel and navigate to Wireless Settings.
- Use the Wireless Setup Wizard to reconfigure the network settings.
- Make sure the printer's wireless light remains steady and not blinking, indicating a stable connection.
Network Settings: Ensure that the printer is configured correctly in relation to other network settings like IP address and DNS.
Check Router Settings: Ensure that your router's settings are allowing your printer's MAC address to connect to the internet. Sometimes MAC address filtering can prevent devices from connecting.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
