Hi @PS411,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Smart Tank printer connects to your new router using Wireless Wizard or Advanced Settings, but fails to stay connected after restarting your computer.
Fixes to Try:
1. Assign a Static IP to the Printer
- On the printer’s control panel:
- Go to Wireless Settings > Advanced Settings > IP Settings.
- Set to Manual (Static).
- Assign an IP like 192.168.1.150 (outside your router’s DHCP range).
- Then, on your PC:
- Open HP Smart > Add Printer > Enter IP manually.
2. Ensure Printer and PC Are on the Same Wi-Fi Band
- Many HP Smart Tank printers only support 2.4 GHz.
- Make sure your PC is also connected to the 2.4 GHz network, not 5 GHz.
3. Disable “Wi-Fi Isolation” on Router
- Log in to your router (e.g., 192.168.1.1 or 10.0.0.1).
- Look for a setting called “AP Isolation” or “Client Isolation” and disable it.
- This allows devices on the same network to communicate.
4. Reinstall the HP Smart App
- Uninstall and reinstall the HP Smart app on your PC: HP Smart - Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store
- During setup, choose “Always connect to this printer”.
5. Update Printer Firmware
- Go to: 🔗 Official HP® Support
- Enter your exact model and install the latest firmware.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
