Hi @Dumbsmarttankus,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're trying to connect an HP 6000 printer using "Direct Connect" mode, which essentially creates a direct wireless connection between the printer and your desktop or laptop without needing to go through a router.

Here’s a general guide on how to set this up.

Enable Direct Connect on the Printer:

  • On your HP 6000 printer, navigate to the network settings menu.
  • Look for an option like “Wireless Direct” or “Wi-Fi Direct” and enable it. The printer will create its own network.

Connect Your Desktop/Laptop to the Printer’s Network:

  • On your desktop or laptop, open the Wi-Fi settings.
  • Look for the network name (SSID) broadcasted by your HP 6000 printer. It might look something like "HP-Setup-PrinterName."
  • Connect to this network. You might need a password, which should be provided in the printer's setup instructions.

Install Printer Drivers:

  • If you haven’t already, install the appropriate drivers for your HP 6000 printer on your desktop or laptop.
  • You can usually download these from HP’s official website.

Add the Printer:

  • On your desktop or laptop, go to the "Printers & Scanners" settings.
  • Click “Add a printer or scanner.” Your HP 6000 should appear in the list of available printers.
  • Select it and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Print a Test Page:

  • Once the printer is added, try printing a test page to ensure everything is working correctly.

If you encounter any issues, make sure the printer is in direct line of sight with your desktop/laptop to ensure a strong connection and check that no other devices are interfering with the direct connection.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
