I just received a new router and I am having a problem connecting my hp 2640 printer to it.  Need step by step instructions.  I tried everything from the internet.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you. 
 

1. Turn on your printer and make sure it is in a ready state.

2. Restore Network Settings:

Press and hold the Wireless button (🛜) and the Cancel button (❌) from the printer control panel together for three seconds.

3. Connect to Wi-Fi:

Using WPS: Press the WPS button on your router, then press and hold the Wireless button on your printer until the wireless light starts blinking. Wait for the connection to establish.

Using HP Smart App: Download the HP Smart app on your device, open it, and follow the prompts to add your printer and connect it to your Wi-Fi network.
