I'm trying to set up my printer to a new wifi. Every time I do it it fails to load because it fails in SETTING. It says NO FILTERING has failed

@GrannyBell399, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "NO FILTERING has failed" error when connecting your HP printer to a new Wi-Fi network typically points to a network compatibility or configuration issue. Here's how you can resolve it:

Avoid Guest Networks:

  • HP printers often cannot connect to guest networks. Make sure you're connecting to your main home Wi-Fi network, not a guest or restricted one.

Restore Network Settings on the Printer:

  • On the printer's control panel:
    • Go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore Network Settings.
    • Then go to Network > Wireless > Wireless Setup Wizard and select your Wi-Fi network again.

Check Wi-Fi Band Compatibility:

  • If your router uses dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz) with the same SSID (network name), the printer might struggle to connect.
  • Solution: Rename the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks differently (e.g., HomeWiFi_2G and HomeWiFi_5G) and connect the printer to the 2.4GHz one.

Check Encryption Settings:

  • HP printers typically support WPA or WPA2 encryption.
  • If your router is using WEP or WPA-PSK+FT, change it to WPA-PSK (AES) in your router settings.

Restart All Devices:

  • Power off your printer, router, and the device you're using for setup.
  • Wait 30 seconds, then power them back on in this order: router → printer → computer/phone.

Try Wi-Fi Direct or USB Setup (if nothing else works):

  • Use Wi-Fi Direct or a USB cable to connect the printer temporarily and update firmware or settings.
