Hi @Nancyk26,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
Setting up the HP Tango X printer involves connecting it to your Wi-Fi network, which requires entering the Wi-Fi password during the setup process. If you're being prompted for a password for the Tango X printer itself, it might be asking for the admin password or a similar authentication step. Here’s how to proceed:
Steps to Set Up HP Tango X Printer:
Prepare for Setup:
- Ensure your printer is plugged in and turned on. The power button on the Tango X is located on the back right side.
- Make sure your mobile device or computer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network that you want your printer to connect to.
Download HP Smart App:
- Download the HP Smart app from your app store (Google Play Store for Android or App Store for iOS).
- Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your printer.
Connect Printer to Wi-Fi:
- In the HP Smart app, tap on the Plus sign (+) to add a new printer.
- Select your printer (HP Tango X) from the list of available printers.
- Follow the prompts to connect your printer to your Wi-Fi network.
- During this process, you will need to enter your Wi-Fi network’s password, not the printer’s password.
Follow On-Screen Instructions:
- The app will guide you through the setup process, including any necessary firmware updates for your printer.
Authenticate if Necessary:
- If you are prompted for a password specifically for the Tango X printer (not the Wi-Fi password), it might be asking for admin credentials or initial setup authentication. Typically, this is a default password provided in the printer’s setup instructions or on the printer itself. Look for any stickers or documentation that came with the printer for this password.
Complete Setup:
- Once connected, follow any additional prompts to complete the setup. The HP Smart app will also help you install printer software and configure additional settings.
Additional Tips:
Reset Printer (if needed):
- If you're stuck at a password prompt and cannot proceed, consider resetting the printer to factory settings:
- Locate the reset button on your HP Tango X printer (usually a small hole or button).
- Use a paperclip or similar tool to press and hold the reset button for a few seconds until the printer resets.
- Follow the setup instructions again from the beginning.
If you continue to have difficulty setting up your HP Tango X printer or if you cannot find the required password, contact HP Phone Support for assistance.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
