I can't seem to make this Scan to Network Folder works AT ALL. I have done it on some devices, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but this PC is making me lose it. I already made it work before but I changed desktops and now trying to establish it with no avail whatsoever. This is win 11 with Laserjet Pro 200 Color MFP M276nw
1. I have a network folder with Everyone read/write and all permissions
2. Advanced Network Sharing has everything checked except password protection
3. Services:
- Server
- Print Spooler
- Function Discovery Provider Host
- Function Discover Resource Publication
I went to the embedded web service by typing the printer IP. I went to Scan and created a profile.
Display name: Employee name
Network Path: \\Computername\RRScans
- Computername is same as Settings > System
Username: James (space) Smith
- James is my first name in Microsoft account
- Smith is my last name in Microsoft account
- full format is: "James Smith" without the quotation mark
- I tried \computername\James Smith
- I tried \\computername\James Smith
- I tried James
- I tried JamesSmith
- I tried the email tied to the microsoft account
Password:
- the PIN I setup in settings and login with when I start my pc. It's not working
- The email password. It's not working
Secure to Folder Access
Pin: Empty (no need for PIN when scanning)
Confirm Pin: same
Scan Settings:
default.
What am I supposed to do? I really really would prefer if I didn't get an automated response by a volunteer who copy paste the same solutions without even reading the post. Thank you for time and help.

Hi @fasd32znoupio,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Setting up scan-to-network folder functionality can be tricky, especially when dealing with permissions and network paths. Here’s a step-by-step guide tailored to your situation.
Verify Network Folder Access
- Check Network Folder: Ensure that the network folder (\\Computername\RRScans) is accessible from your PC. You can do this by navigating to the folder from File Explorer on the PC where the printer is trying to save the scans.
Review Folder Permissions
- Permissions: Confirm that the folder has both read and write permissions for the user account you are using. Right-click on the folder, select "Properties," go to the "Sharing" tab, and ensure that the permissions are correctly set.
Confirm Network Path
- Correct Network Path: Double-check the network path format. It should be in the form of \\Computername\RRScans. The computer name should match exactly as it appears in your network settings.
Update Scan Profile Settings
- Profile Settings:
- Network Path: Use \\Computername\RRScans in the network path field.
- Username: Use the username that has permission to the network folder. This is usually a local or domain user account, not necessarily the Microsoft account.
- Password: Use the password for the specified username, not the Microsoft account password or PIN.
Test Folder Accessibility
- Test with Credentials: Manually try accessing the network folder using the same username and password from a different PC. If you can't access it this way, the issue might be with the folder permissions or network configuration.
Adjust Security Settings
- Windows Security: Ensure that your firewall or security software isn’t blocking the connection. Temporarily disable any security software to test if it’s causing the issue.

Configure Printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS)
Access EWS:
- Type the printer’s IP address into a web browser.
- Go to the “Scan” tab and configure the scan-to-folder settings.
Verify and Save: Make sure all the details are correctly entered and save the settings. Ensure that “Secure” settings are not enabled unless required.
Reboot and Retry
- Restart Devices: Restart the printer and the PC. Sometimes a fresh connection can resolve the issue.
Update Firmware
- Firmware: Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. Outdated firmware can sometimes cause compatibility issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
