My printer will not connect to my wireless network. I have tried restarting my printer multiple times, and it will not connect to the network. I have tried restarting my network modem, and still it won't connect. In fact my printer won't let me do anything without my printer password. Every time I enter the password that came with the printer, it tells me it is the wrong password. How do I fix this problem?

Hi @Kathejohns ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're unable to remember the printer password and it's preventing you from connecting to your wireless network, you may need to perform a factory reset on your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281cdw printer. Here's how you can do it:
- Turn on the printer: Ensure your printer is turned on.
- Press and hold the Resume button: Locate the Resume button on your printer. Press and hold it for about 10-20 seconds.
- Wait for the Ready light to flash: While holding the Resume button, wait for the Ready light on the printer to start flashing.
- Release the Resume button: Once the Ready light starts flashing, release the Resume button.
- Wait for the printer to reset: The printer will go through a reset process, which may take a minute or two. During this time, the printer will restart.
- Printer reset complete: Once the reset process is complete, the printer will restart. At this point, it should be restored to its factory settings, including the default password.
After the factory reset, you should be able to use the default password to connect your printer to the wireless network. The default password is usually provided in the printer's documentation or on a sticker attached to the printer itself.
