I have a HP LaserJet Tank MFP 2604sdw. I changed my wifi router and attempted to connect it to the new wifi, but my HP Smart app will not connect my printer. It keeps saying my printer needs to be turned on to recognize it. It is turned on. I attempted to request HP support, but the support will not recognize my model number!! I've tried many different ways, even looking up the model number on the list of printers, but it is not there. And apparently there is no way to ask for support without having the model number. I have had the printer less than a year.

Hi @SAS63,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're having a frustrating experience with your HP LaserJet Tank MFP 2604sdw printer and connecting it to your new Wi-Fi router. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
Verify Printer Status:
- Ensure that your printer is powered on and connected to the same network as your computer or mobile device.
- Check the printer display for any error messages.
Reconnect to Wi-Fi:
- Use the printer's control panel to access the Wi-Fi setup menu.
- Select your new Wi-Fi network and enter the password if prompted.
Reset Network Settings:
- If you continue to have issues, consider resetting the printer's network settings:
- Go to the Setup menu on the printer.
- Navigate to Network settings and look for an option to Reset Network Settings.
- After the reset, reconnect to the new Wi-Fi network.
HP Smart App Connection:
- Ensure you have the latest version of the HP Smart app installed.
- Try to add the printer manually in the app:
- Open the app, tap on the + sign to add a new printer.
- If it doesn’t find the printer, you may need to select the "My printer is not listed" option.
Check Router Settings:
- Ensure that your router is functioning properly and not blocking the printer's connection (e.g., firewall settings).
- Make sure that the router is set to a compatible Wi-Fi band (2.4 GHz is usually more stable for printers).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
