How can I reconnect my HP 125w printer to a new Wi-Fi network? I recently moved and have a new Wi-Fi setup, but I’m having trouble connecting the printer. I’ve tried multiple solutions, but nothing seems to work. Why is this process so complicated?

Hi @Dildardd,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Reconnecting your HP Laser MFP 135wg printer to a new Wi-Fi network can indeed be a bit frustrating, but here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get it connected.
Reset the Printer's Network Settings
This ensures that any old network settings are cleared.
- Turn on the printer.
- Restore default network settings:
- On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wi-Fi button and the Cancel button simultaneously for about 5 seconds. The Wi-Fi indicator should blink to show it’s ready to connect.
Connect the Printer to Your New Wi-Fi
You can use one of the following methods:
HP Smart App (Recommended)
- Download the HP Smart app on your computer or smartphone (if not already installed).
- For Windows/Mac: HP Smart App Download.
- For Android/iOS: Available in the app store.
- Open the app and sign in (or create an HP account if you don’t have one).
- Click on Add Printer and follow the instructions.
- The app will guide you to connect your printer to your new Wi-Fi network.
- You may need your Wi-Fi password.
WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)
- Ensure your router has a WPS button.
- On the printer, press and hold the Wi-Fi button until it blinks.
- Press the WPS button on your router within 2 minutes.
- The printer will connect automatically, and the Wi-Fi light should stop blinking.
Verify the Connection
- Print a Network Configuration Report:
- Press and hold the Resume button (or Cancel button) until the printer prints the report.
- Check the report to ensure the printer is connected to the correct network.
Reinstall the Printer on Your Devices
After reconnecting the printer to Wi-Fi:
- On your computer, open Printers & Scanners in the system settings.
- Remove the old instance of the printer.
- Click Add a Printer and select your HP Laser MFP 135wg from the list.
If these steps don’t work or you encounter issues like the printer not appearing in the app:
- Restart your printer, router, and device.
- Make sure your device is on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Disable any VPNs or firewalls temporarily while setting up the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
