Hi @Rick519,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

When you cancel Instant Ink and install new cartridges, the printer should work normally, but losing the internet connection and failing to connect to a new router usually means the printer’s network settings need to be reset and reconfigured.

Here’s the fix:

Steps to Reconnect Your Printer to a New Router

1. Restart Everything

  • Power off the printer, router, and PC for 60 seconds.
  • Turn on the router first, then the printer, then your PC.

2. Reset Network Settings on Printer

  • On the printer control panel:
    • Setup > Network Settings > Restore Network Defaults.
  • This clears old Wi-Fi info.

3. Reconnect to Wi-Fi

  • Go to the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer:
    • Set up> Network Settings > Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Select your new Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
  • Ensure your PC is on the same network.

4. Print Network Configuration Page

  • Setup > Reports > Network Configuration.
  • Confirm:
    • IP Address is valid (not 0.0.0.0 or 169.x.x.x).
    • Connection Type: Wireless.

5. Update Printer Firmware

6. Run HP App

7. Reconnect HP App

  • Open the HP App on your PC or phone.
  • Tap Add Printer → Select your printer → Complete setup.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
