The printer only uses the 2.4ghz band. You cannot use direct print unless your laptop is also on 2.4ghz. I did not see BlueTooth listed under HP Smart, only wireless.
Network setup is described in step 2
do not use Wi-Fi direct. Use the 2.4ghz SSID and configure the printer to the router. The HP smart app on your laptop can configure as explained here but ignore any reference to BlueTooth. Unfortunately the laptop and the printer must be on the 2.4ghz band. Once you get it setup you can switch the laptop or smartphone back to the 5ghz band.
You may want to use the WPS pushbutton method instead.

You have 2 minutes from the tine you select WPS to go to the modem and press its WPS button.
here is some help with modems:
I have an Arris modem, yours may be different. This tutorial is helpful. The username might be "admin" and the password should be printed somewhere on the modem. If not, then use that tutorial. Use a different name for the 2.4 and the 5ghz bands. To keep it simple, use the same password and use only numeric digits such as someone's phone number. When in the router, run the app that finds the channel with the least amount of noise for both bands.
