Hi @pejohnson,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP LaserJet M234dw is not accepting the new IP address of your router, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue. Here's what you can try.
- Restart your printer: Turn off the printer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
- Check the printer's network settings: On your printer's control panel, navigate to the network settings menu and verify that the printer is set to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP). If it is set to a static IP address, make sure the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS settings are correctly configured to match your new router's network settings.
- Reset network settings: If you're still experiencing issues, you can try resetting the network settings of your printer. To do this, press and hold the Wireless button on the printer's control panel for several seconds until the wireless light starts blinking. This should reset the network settings, and you'll need to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
- Update printer firmware: Visit the HP support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP LaserJet M234dw. Installing the latest firmware can potentially resolve compatibility issues and improve connectivity.
- Update printer drivers on your Mac: Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your Mac. Visit the HP website or use the Software Update feature on your Mac to check for driver updates. Up-to-date drivers can help ensure proper communication between your printer and Mac.
- Temporarily disable any firewall or security software: Sometimes, security software or firewall settings on your Mac can interfere with the printer's connectivity. Temporarily disable any such software and check if the printer can connect to your new router.
- Reset your router: If none of the above steps work, you can try resetting your router to its factory settings. Please note that this will reset all your router settings, so you'll need to reconfigure it afterward.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
