HP officejet 5258, changed to a new wifi router. The wifi setup wizard recognizes the new router. When trying to enter the router password the printer shows the letters in blocks. How can I enter individual lettersfor the password?

Hi @Bill5258,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you want to enter the Wi-Fi password on your HP OfficeJet 5258 All-In-One Printer, follow these steps to ensure you're inputting the letters correctly:
Navigate to Wi-Fi Setup:
- On the printer's control panel, touch the Wireless icon or go to the Network menu.
- Select Wireless Setup Wizard.
Select the Network:
- The printer will search for available networks. Once your new router’s network appears, select it.
Enter the Password:
- When prompted to enter the Wi-Fi password, a keypad will appear on the screen. The letters may initially appear in blocks.
Switch Between Numeric and Alphabetic Input:
- If the password requires letters, you may need to switch from numeric to alphabetic mode. Look for an icon on the on-screen keyboard that changes the input method. This is often a button labeled ABC, abc, or something similar.
- Tap this button to toggle between uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and numbers/symbols.
Enter Letters Individually:
- Once you have switched to alphabetic mode, touch each letter on the on-screen keyboard individually to input the Wi-Fi password.
Confirm and Connect:
- After entering the password, confirm your entry. The printer should then attempt to connect to the Wi-Fi network.
Troubleshooting Tips:
- Clear Entry: If you make a mistake while entering the password, look for a backspace or delete option to correct it.
- Special Characters: If your Wi-Fi password contains special characters, make sure to switch to the appropriate input mode (symbols or punctuation) on the on-screen keyboard.
- Restart: If the on-screen keyboard is not responding properly, restart the printer and try again.
- Manual Setup: As an alternative, you can use the HP Smart app on your smartphone or computer to set up the Wi-Fi connection. Download the app from the HP website or your device’s app store, and follow the on-screen instructions for network setup.
