I have a smart tank 7600.  When I try to scan I get a “network connection” error.  But I am connected to the WiFi network and can open the printer page from the ip address.  Any suggestions as to what the error may mean?  I’ve tried restarting a couple times.  There seems to be no problem connecting to the WiFi network.

thanks!

Hi @Cool_Capybara,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If you're experiencing a "network connection" error when trying to scan to email with your HP Smart Tank 7600 printer, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

Check Network Connection:

  • Ensure that your printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer or mobile device. You can check the network status on the printer's display panel.

Restart the Printer and Router:

  • Power off your printer and unplug it. Restart your Wi-Fi router by unplugging it for about 30 seconds and then plugging it back in. After the router is back online, turn your printer back on.

Verify Email Settings:

  • Check the email settings in the printer's scan-to-email setup. Ensure that the email address, password, and server settings (SMTP) are correctly entered.
  • Make sure that you are using an email service that supports scan-to-email functionality, such as Gmail, Outlook, or Yahoo.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware. You can check for firmware updates through the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP Support website.

Use the HP Smart App:

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device and try scanning to email directly from the app. This can sometimes bypass network issues.

Kindly check the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Cool_Capybara,

Please find the next steps below.

Disable Firewall or Security Software:

  • Temporarily disable any firewall or security software on your computer that might be blocking the printer's network connection. If this resolves the issue, you may need to adjust the software settings.

Check for Network Issues:

  • Make sure there are no ongoing issues with your internet connection. You can test this by browsing the web on another device connected to the same network.

Reconfigure Network Settings:

  • If you still encounter the error, you might need to reconfigure the network settings on the printer:
    • On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Network > Wireless Setup Wizard and reconnect to your Wi-Fi network.

Factory Reset (as a last resort):

  • If none of the above steps work, you may consider performing a factory reset on the printer. This will erase all custom settings, so use this option as a last resort:
    • Go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Defaults.

If you follow these steps and are still encountering the error, I recommend you contact phone support.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
