Hi @Margy-8-_,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP DeskJet 2540 is having trouble connecting to your new Wi-Fi network. Here are the steps to reconnect your printer to Wi-Fi and get it working with your laptop and iPhone:
1. Reset the Printer's Network Settings
First, you need to reset the printer's network settings:
- Turn on the printer.
- Press and hold the Wi-Fi button (the one with the wireless icon) and the Cancel button (the red X) at the same time for about 3-5 seconds. This will reset the network settings.
2. Connect the Printer to the New Wi-Fi Network
After resetting, connect the printer to your new Wi-Fi:
- Press the Wi-Fi button on the printer. The light should start blinking.
- On your Wi-Fi router, press the WPS button (if available). This will allow the printer to connect to the Wi-Fi automatically.
- If your router does not support WPS:
- Download and install the HP Smart app on your iPhone or laptop from the respective app store.
- Open the HP Smart app and add the printer by selecting "Add Printer." Follow the on-screen instructions to connect it to your Wi-Fi network. You may need to enter your new Wi-Fi password.
3. Install or Update Printer Drivers
For your laptop, ensure that you have the correct drivers installed:
- Go to the HP Support website.
- Search for your printer model (HP DeskJet 2540) and download the latest drivers for Windows 10 (32-bit).
- Install the drivers and follow the prompts to complete the installation.
4. Connect Your iPhone to the Printer
To print from your iPhone:
- Ensure your iPhone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.
- Open a document or photo you want to print.
- Tap the Share icon and select Print.
- Choose your HP DeskJet 2540 from the list of available printers.
5. Check the Printer's Status
- Ensure the printer is powered on and that the blue light is on. If it’s not, there might be an issue with the printer itself. Check for any error messages on the printer display.
Troubleshooting
If you still can't connect:
- Reboot your devices (printer, laptop, router).
- Ensure that your new Wi-Fi network is working properly with other devices.
- Move the printer closer to the router during setup to ensure a strong signal.
