Microsoft Windows 11

I did factory reset, change dns to manual 8.8.8.8

Still getting can't connect.

What else could the problem be it seems to me it's something going on with the server on HP part because I can print out stuff from the website and I can print stuff from the app but I can't connect to the web service to get my ink and my email.

I DID IT! I SOLVED IT!

Ok so the problem was when I did s factory reset or whatever happened it made my serial number too long for this model number. So it would automatically not even try to connect

I know earlier I mention this but I was on Reddit someone who use work for hp told me this is a known problem with this model, due to it being the last model with Eprint in this series. After power surges or anything it set the serial numbers to 00010.

You have to manually change the serial number in engineering mode to the one on the back. I don't want cause no trouble so I won't tell you the procedure unless allowed.

But after changing serial number it connected automatically, and I now have email and ink services back baby!

So for the future I would suggest if someone having problems connecting verify the serial number on printer matches the one on the printer screen. It'll save you guys a lot of time.

I want to thdnks you dragon for giving me all the information you could. Most people would have been stop responding. Your suggestion triggered my brain and help solve this mystery.

Modify network adapter properties from the Control Panel

OR

Use the Command line tool to enable disable / enable the network adapter(s)

Windows key + X Open Command Prompt (Admin)

List network adapter(s) properties

netsh interface show interface

To enable NIC type, the following command:

netsh interface set interface "network_adapter_name" admin=enable

(e.g netsh interface set interface "Ethernet01" admin=enable)

To disable NIC type, the following command:

netsh interface set interface "network_adapter_name" admin=disable

(e.g netsh interface set interface "Ethernet01" admin=disable)

Example

netsh interface set interface "Wi-Fi" admin=enable

Close the command prompt.

Printer - EWS - Connection

Dual Band Network - Considerations

Reminders

If the printer supports it, connecting using Ethernet is generally a better choice.

Some printers, particularly older models, only support Wireless at 2.4GHz

Some printers support Wireless at both 5GHz and 2.4GHz – but not at the same time

Regardless, if the printer won't work or cannot connect to your 5GHz SSID named network, connect to the 2.4GHz network.

If you are running a Dual Band Network,

Check that the router is set up to broadcast all frequencies it supports.

Next,

If your router supports it,

On your router:

Create a separate SSID named network for each frequency supported by the router

What?  Create one SSID named network for 5GHz and one SSID named network for 2.4GHz

and

Connect the printer to the SSID named network on the frequency / band you want it to use.

In general,

  • 2.4GHz is less fussy about obstacles and supports a longer distance (separation) between router and device (printer)
  • 5GHz is faster

Example – EWS – IPv4

EWS > HP Document / How-to

Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Ethernet

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Network > Wired (802.3) > IPv4 Configuration

Wireless

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Network > Wireless (802.11) > IPv4 Configuration

As Available:

Tab Network > Wireless (802.11) > Advanced

Network Interface on / off, Network SSID name, Security Settings, Passphrase / Password

Select and connect to the correct SSID / network name for the bandwidth you are using.

Note:   It is not mandatory that you use a manual / static IP address.  Doing so can improve stability.

If I hook it up to Ethernet and it still does same thing then what could be problem?

HP Recommended

@Homep1

Not sure -- it's been a lot of years since I've seen any DNS issues.

The fault likely does not lie with the printer -- could, but not likely.

In general, as noted in EWS > Network > General > Network Summary

The printer would be connected to your router -

For example,  192.168.2.1

Normally, if not being used, Wi-Fi Direct would be switched OFF -- it can be switched on and used to connect the printer directly to the computer using the printer's wireless radio.

Example - EWS - Wi-Fi Direct - Status / Edit

Ok the wifi direct tip worked like a charm now at least  under HP network configuration page under internet is now says connected after I turned off Wi-Fi direct. It still won't let me enable web services but I'm going to unplug the printer for a minute first and then try again and see what happens. This is the first time that the printer actually says Internet connected

HP Recommended

I have two different internet one Xfinity, one Verizon 5g.

The problem is the printer setting or something with it's setting to routers.

Once I turned off Wi-Fi direct the DNS error is got the printer now says connected. But still when setting up web service it says server busy try again later which is new I'm so mentally exhausted I do not understand why all sudden this happen.

HP Recommended

I've been reading the forms and I found two cases that was solved by disabling web service then or uninstalling it then reinstalling it on my network except set up when I go to the IP page I don't have that option.

HP Recommended

I noticed my printer serial number is a bunch of zeros and a 1-0 when the real number begin with a t could this be a problem when I do HP network configuration page print out.
