Hi @Goodtraveler,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY Inspire 7900e printer is showing as turned off and won't print, there are several troubleshooting steps you can take to resolve the issue:

Check Power and Connections:

  • Ensure the printer is powered on and all cables are securely connected. If it’s a wireless printer, make sure it is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your laptop.

Set the Printer as Default:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners on your laptop. Locate your printer, click on it, and select Manage, then choose Set as default((.

Check Printer Status:

  • Right-click on the printer in the Printers & scanners menu and select See what's printing. Make sure there are no stalled print jobs. If there are, cancel them.

Remove and Re-add the Printer:

  • In the Printers & scanners section, select your printer and click Remove device. After removing it, click on Add a printer or scanner to reinstall it(.

Check the Print Spooler Service:

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter. Find Print Spooler, right-click it, and select Restart. Ensure the startup type is set to Automatic(.

Network Configuration:

  • If your printer is wireless, print a Network Configuration Report from the printer’s settings menu to check its connection status. Ensure the printer is connected to the correct network(.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure that your printer drivers are up to date. You can check for updates via the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP support website(.

Firewall/Antivirus Settings:

  • Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software that might be blocking the printer connection to see if it resolves the issue(.

Connectivity Checks:

  • For wireless connections, restart your printer, laptop, and router to refresh the network connection. If you’re using a USB connection, try a different USB port or cable.
