Hi @KorbanReece,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The error code OW_4XX_OWSWS00001 on your HP DeskJet 8000 typically indicates an issue with the printer's connection to the HP Smart app or HP’s web services. This can often be related to registration or connectivity issues. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

1. Restart Devices

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Restart Your Router:

  • Unplug your router, wait about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in.

Restart Your Computer or Mobile Device:

  • Restart the device you're using to access the HP Smart app or to register the printer.

2. Check Network Connection

Ensure Printer is Connected to Wi-Fi:

  • On the printer's control panel, check the network settings to ensure it's connected to your Wi-Fi network.
  • Print a network configuration page to verify the connection.

Reconnect to Wi-Fi:

  • If the printer is not connected to Wi-Fi or you’re unsure, reconnect it through the printer’s control panel by selecting Wireless Setup Wizard or similar option.

3. Update Printer Firmware

  1. Update Firmware:
    • If possible, use the HP Smart app or visit the HP Support website to check for any available firmware updates for your printer.
    • Install any updates and try registering the printer again.

4. Reinstall HP Smart App

  1. Reinstall the HP Smart App:
    • Uninstall: Delete the HP Smart app from your device.
    • Reinstall: Download and reinstall the latest version from the App Store or Google Play Store.

5. Register the Printer Manually

  1. Manual Registration:
    • Go to the HP Smart website or HP's support page for printers.
    • Follow the instructions to register your printer manually, entering the required details and using the printer’s serial number if needed.

6. Check for Error Details

  1. Error Codes:
    • Refer to the HP support documentation or user manual for more information about the error code. Sometimes specific error codes have dedicated troubleshooting steps.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
