I'm having problems with my printer, it tells me that the scanner is damaged, I don't use it constantly, and it's only been with me for a year.

Your ADF is full of dust, the pickups may be slipping on the paper, or a sensor by not detect paper loaded.  I asked google to help with your query and google seems to have overshared.

To clean an HP printer's Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), turn off the printer, open the ADF cover, locate the paper pick rollers and separator pad inside, and gently wipe them with a clean, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water; ensure to remove any excess liquid from the cloth before cleaning, and let the rollers dry completely before closing the ADF cover and powering back on. [1, 2, 3]

Key steps: [1, 2, 3]
  • Turn off and disconnect: Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord. [1, 2, 3]
  • Open ADF cover: Lift the ADF cover to access the internal components. [1, 2, 3]
  • Identify key parts: Locate the paper pick rollers and separator pad. [2, 3, 4]
  • Dampen cloth: Use a clean, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water. [1, 2, 3, 5]
  • Clean rollers and pad: Gently wipe the rollers and separator pad with the damp cloth. [1, 2, 3]
  • Dry completely: Allow the rollers and pad to air dry before closing the ADF cover. [1, 2, 3]
Important points to remember: [1, 2, 6]
  • Use a lint-free cloth: Avoid using paper towels or tissues which can leave fibers behind. [1, 2, 6]
  • Do not over-wet: Only lightly dampen the cloth to avoid excessive moisture. [2, 3]
  • Check for debris: Look for any visible dust or paper particles on the rollers and remove them. [2, 3, 7]
  • Clean the glass strip: If your printer has a visible glass strip on the ADF, clean that as well using a glass cleaner and lint-free cloth. [6, 7, 8]
When to clean your ADF: [2, 3, 9]
  • When you notice paper jams or feeding issues.
  • If scanned documents have streaks or lines.
  • If you haven't cleaned the ADF in a while, as regular maintenance. [1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 9]
