Hi @MG179,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are trying to update the WiFi settings on your HP DeskJet 2820e All-In-One Printer to connect it to your new router, follow these steps:

Option 1: Using the HP Smart App

Install the HP Smart App:

  • Ensure you have the HP Smart app installed on your computer or mobile device. You can download it from the Microsoft Store, Apple App Store, or Google Play Store.

Open the HP Smart App:

  • Launch the HP Smart app on your device.

Add Your Printer:

  • If your printer is not already added, click on the "+" sign to add a new printer. Follow the on-screen instructions to add your HP DeskJet 2820e.

Reconfigure WiFi Settings:

  • Once your printer is added, click on the printer's icon to open the printer settings.
  • Navigate to Printer Settings or Advanced Settings.
  • Look for Network Settings or WiFi Settings.
  • Choose the option to change the WiFi network and follow the on-screen prompts to enter the new WiFi network name (SSID) and password.

Option 2: Using the Printer's Control Panel

Reset the Network Settings:

  • On the printer's control panel, locate the Wireless button (usually an icon with a signal).
  • Press and hold the Wireless button until the wireless light starts blinking. This will reset the network settings.

Reconnect to WiFi:

  • After resetting the network settings, the wireless light should blink, indicating that the printer is in setup mode.
  • Use the HP Smart app or your computer to reconfigure the WiFi settings:
    • Open the HP Smart app and follow the steps to add a new printer.
    • The app should detect the printer in setup mode and prompt you to enter the new WiFi network name and password.

Option 3: Using the HP Wireless Setup Wizard (For printers with displays)

Access the Setup Menu:

  • On the printer's control panel, press the Setup button (usually an icon of a gear or wrench).

Navigate to Network Settings:

  • Use the arrow buttons to navigate to Network Settings or Wireless Settings, and press OK.

Select Wireless Setup Wizard:

  • Select Wireless Setup Wizard and press OK.
  • The printer will search for available networks. Select your new WiFi network from the list.
  • Enter the new WiFi password using the on-screen keyboard.

Additional Tips

  • Ensure your printer and computer/mobile device are on the same WiFi network.
  • Restart both your router and printer after updating the WiFi settings.
  • If you encounter any issues, try resetting your printer and going through the setup process again.
