Hi @KennediL

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If your HP printer is asking for a password and you don’t have one, here are some steps to resolve the issue:

1. Try Default Passwords

  • Some HP printers use default credentials:
    • Username: admin
    • Password: 1234, 0000, or admin
  • Check your printer’s manual or HP’s website for model-specific defaults.

2. Reset Network Settings

  • If the password prompt is related to Wi-Fi:
    • On the printer’s control panel, go to Network Settings.
    • Look for an option to Reset Network Settings or Reconfigure Wi-Fi.
    • Reconnect the printer to your network.

3. Perform a Factory Reset

  • If the password is for administrative functions:
    • On the printer’s control panel, navigate to SetupPrinter Maintenance.
    • Select Restore Defaults or Factory Reset.
    • Confirm the reset (this will erase all custom settings).

4. Reconfigure the Printer

  • If the printer is asking for a password to connect to a network:
    • Reconnect it using the HP Smart app or Wi-Fi setup wizard.
    • Update any settings through the printer’s control panel.
