Microsoft Windows 11

I have an HP Pavilion laptop (5 months old) and an HP Envy 6432 printer. Both are properly connected to wireless network.

Since last week when I send a document to the printer nothing happens but if I restart my laptop then the document prints (even if I sent it to the printer several hours previously).

I have done a factory reset on the printer but nothing has changed,

It is as if the laptop restart is needed to initiate the spooling process.

I am not an IT expert so keep any advice/instructions simple please.

It seems you are experiencing issues with your HP Pavilion laptop and HP Envy 6432 printer where printing only works after restarting your laptop. Here are a few steps you can take to resolve this issue:

Verify Printer and Computer Communication

  1. Check the USB Connection: If you are using USB to connect your printer, ensure the cable is securely connected to both the printer and your HP Pavilion laptop. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the cable.
  2. Wireless Network Connection: Since both devices are connected to the wireless network, make sure they are on the same network and that the network is stable.

Clear Print Queue

Ensure your print queue is clear by following these steps:

  1. Open the Printer Folder: On your laptop, go to 'Control Panel' > 'Devices and Printers'.
  2. Clear any Pending Jobs: Right-click on your printer icon and select 'See what's printing'. Cancel any print jobs that are in the queue.

Update Printer Driver

Check if the printer driver needs an update:

  1. Visit HP Support: Go to HP Support for your HP Envy 6432 printer.
  2. Download Latest Driver: Download and install the latest driver for your printer model.

Restart Print Spooler Service

Sometimes restarting the Print Spooler service can resolve issues:

  1. Open Services: Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  2. Find Print Spooler: Scroll down to find 'Print Spooler'.
  3. Restart the Service: Right-click on 'Print Spooler' and select 'Restart'.

Hope this helps!
