Hi @SaidMH,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Smart Tank 580 printer is not responding when you send a print job, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve the problem.

Check Printer Status:

  • Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your computer or network.
  • Ensure that there are no error messages or warning lights on the printer's control panel.

Check Connection:

  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network. If it's a wireless connection, check that the Wi-Fi is working correctly.
  • If you're using a USB cable, ensure it is securely connected to both the printer and your computer.

Restart Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on. This can often resolve minor issues.

Restart Computer:

  • Sometimes, a simple restart of your computer can help clear any communication problems.

Check Print Queue:

  • Open the print queue on your computer and make sure there are no pending print jobs. If there are, try canceling them and then resend the print job.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. You can usually download these drivers from the HP website.

Check for Paper or Ink Issues:

  • Ensure that the printer has enough paper and ink or toner to complete the print job. If any of these supplies are low or empty, replace them.

Clear Print Spooler (Windows):

  • If you're using a Windows computer, you can try clearing the print spooler. Open the "Services" application, find "Print Spooler," right-click it, and select "Restart."

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Sometimes, third-party software or security programs can interfere with the printing process. Try disabling or temporarily uninstalling any such software to see if it resolves the issue.

Factory Reset (Last Resort):

  • If none of the above steps work, you can perform a factory reset on your printer. Be cautious with this step, as it will reset all printer settings to their defaults. You may need to reconfigure the printer after the reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
