HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I tried to reconnect the HP Officejet Pro 8625 to the network. I went to the screen in the printer and pick Setup and scrolled down to Network Setup, Wireless Setup Wizard, but it said 'This feature is locked by Admin' even though I am the admin. I also pressed  Setup in the Wireless Summary screen, and tried 'Restore Network Default', still says locked by admin. So right I have no network connection for the printer. Please help. Much appreciated.

Hi @Jim1015,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing a connectivity issue with your HP Officejet Pro 8625 E-All-In-One Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

To assist you better:

  • How far is the printer located from the WiFi router?
  • Do you have a dual-band router?
  • If you have a dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.

I see that your HP Officejet Pro 8610 Printer has additional security settings enabled so you can't access any settings. I would be happy to help you and please remember to return to this thread and mark 'Accept as Solution', if I have successfully helped you resolve the issue. If you wish to say 'thanks' for my effort to help, click the 'thumbs up' to give me a Kudos.

This is a security feature that was enabled from the printer's embedded web server settings.

Are you able to access the printer's front panel menu settings?

There are two ways to help resolve this. The first way is to restore the network defaults or by performing a Semi-Full Reset.

To restore the printer to the original network settings:

1. From the printer control panel, touch and slide your finger across the screen, touch Setup, and

then touch Network Setup.

2. Touch Restore Network Defaults, and then touch Yes.

A message appears stating that the network defaults have been restored.

3. Touch OK.

4. Print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset.

Once restored, the username and password should default to:

  • Username: ADMIN
  • Password: (blank)

If this does not resolve the issue, we need to perform the Semi-Full Reset. Let me know the outcome.

While you respond to that, Let's perform a power drain:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle

Update the printer firmware

  • Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your product

Hi Gaya 1234, Thanks for your response. I tried 'Restore Network Default' and it says it is locked even though I am the admin. Likewise the 'Wireless Setup Wizard' is locked also. I tried the semi-full reset by powering off the router, and printer several times but to no avail. Downloaded  the HP Scan Doctor, it basically says to do powering on/off, so it failed also. The manual IP in the wifi-icon showed no IP address of the printer, simply said 'Not Connected'. Do you have any other suggestions? As a last resort, would uninstalling the HP printer and re-installing it help, but I don't have latest software. Any help is deeply appreciated.
