I have a new service provider (Rogers), everything connects to the modem except my HP deskjet 3050a series 611 printer. It shows the IP on the printer and modem are different so they aren't talking to each other. I've spent 6 hours on 3 calls with the service provider who have tried their best to no avail. My printer runs on 2.4G so I have a 2.4G netwrok set up on my laptop to match. I have replaced modem 2x and it still doesn't work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The default on most supplied modems is that the 5Ghz and 2.4ghz radios in the modem share the same SSID so the printer will continually try to connect and fail to the 5Ghz. You need to create a unique SSID on the modem for the 2.4Ghz channel and only allow the printer to connect to that unique SSID. Some modems also allow you to force connection to 2.4 based on the MAC (hardware address) of the printer.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have the 2 SSIDs set up, everything else is running on the 5G except my laptop which I use to print and I have that on the 2G. Can you advise how to force the modem to recognize the printer and how to add the MAC address to it. Thanks

Unfortunately, I do not have experience with Rogers so not sure what hardware they are using. Note that there is no need to put your laptop on the 2.4Ghz channel. Default configuration of typical hardware supplies by internet providers means that devices connected to the router via 5Ghz, 2.4Ghz and wired ethernet would all communicate on the same network, it is just the method that they connect. Have you tried setting the printer to initial WIFI setup mode to connect? Link provides details on how to do that.
