Hi @ryb02,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

If your HP DeskJet 2800e printer is asking for a PIN during setup and it's being rejected as incorrect, try these steps to resolve the issue:

1. Verify the PIN

  • Check the Printer Documentation: The PIN requested could be a default PIN provided in the setup documentation. Make sure you’re using the correct PIN as specified in the manual.
  • Printer Control Panel: If the PIN was set on the printer’s control panel, ensure you’re entering it exactly as configured.

2. Use the Default PIN

  • Default PINs: Some printers use a default PIN like 12345678 or 0000 for initial setup. Try entering these common default PINs.

3. Reset Network Settings

  • Reset Printer Network Settings:
    • Go to the printer’s control panel.
    • Navigate to the network settings menu and look for an option to reset or restore default network settings. This action might reset the PIN requirement.

4. Update Printer Firmware

  • Check for Firmware Updates:
    • Visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model.
    • Download and install the latest firmware if available. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve issues related to network setup.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @ryb02,

Please find the remaining steps below.

5. Check the Printer’s Wi-Fi Setup

  • Reconnect to Wi-Fi:
    • Ensure the printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network correctly.
    • Use the printer’s control panel to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network and follow the instructions to enter the network PIN if required.

6. Reinstall the Printer Software

  • Uninstall and Reinstall:
    • Uninstall the current printer software from your computer.
    • Download the latest software and drivers from the HP Support website and reinstall them.

7. Use HP Smart App

  • HP Smart App Setup:
    • Download the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store or App Store (for iOS devices).
    • Follow the app’s setup instructions. It often provides an easy way to set up your printer without needing to manually enter a PIN.

8. Check Printer Manual

  • Consult the Printer Manual:
    • Review the HP DeskJet 2800e printer manual for specific instructions on PIN setup and troubleshooting.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the issue with the PIN during the setup of your HP DeskJet 2800e printer.
