Microsoft Windows 11

In setting up our new printer we were put in touch with Web Planets.  They did a clean up on my computer and we did get the printer hooked up and working.  We signed up for a Web Planets program to protect our computer.  My question is Web Planets a legit company that HP uses??

It was a scam to sell you protection you likely don't want or need.

Worse, the scoundrels are probably monitoring your system now.

HP does not "clean your computer" so you can install and run printer software.

I am sorry you were caught.

Beware of Fake Sites

The "Real Deal"

123.hp.com - Printer setup from the HP® Official site

https://123.hp.com/

The official HP 123 site is where you can find the appropriate (and free) software and drivers for your printer.

There are many “fake” sites listed (in search engines) for “123” – please make sure you are using the actual “HP” site.

If you are asked for money to correct "issues" on your printer or computer OR if the “help” wants to sell you software, threatens you, or wants to log into your computer, you are using a “fake” site. Do not give these people your information!

Wanted to pass along a thank you for your help.  We were able to stop payment on our check and so far everything seems to be back to normal.  Your help was much appreciated.     Webster29

You are welcome.

I am glad it was that easy.

Not all the sites are vicious - some are just sneaky.  Smiling.

Stay snug, warm, and safe - Winter is near.

Same thing just happened to us! Did you scan in a check? We stopped right before that! Can you let me know exactly what you did to get them off your computer?
