Hi @Jackiehillary ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're facing issues with connecting your HP ENVY 6455e All-in-One printer to Wi-Fi. Here are several steps you can follow to troubleshoot the issue:
1. Confirm Wi-Fi Network Details
- Ensure your printer and computer are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Double-check the Wi-Fi credentials (SSID and password). Ensure the password is entered correctly.
2. Reset the Printer's Network Settings
- On your printer, reset the network settings. This clears any previous network configurations and allows you to set it up again from scratch.
- Go to the Control Panel on the printer.
- Select Setup > Network > Restore Network Settings.
- After this, the printer will reboot.
3. Reconnect to Wi-Fi
- After the reset, go to Wi-Fi Setup on the printer (often under Wireless or Network Setup).
- Select your Wi-Fi network from the list and enter your Wi-Fi password.
- If you're using a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network, try switching to the 2.4 GHz band, as some printers may have trouble connecting to 5 GHz networks.
4. Use the HP Smart App HP printer setup (HP Smart app)
- Download and install the HP Smart app on your smartphone or PC if you haven't already.
- Open the app and select Add a Printer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to guide your printer through the setup process.
- If it fails, ensure the app is up-to-date.
5. Update Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Ensure the printer firmware is up-to-date. Check for firmware updates in the HP Smart app or via the printer's web interface.
- You can access this by typing the printer’s IP address into a web browser (you can find the IP in the printer’s network settings).
6. Check Router Settings
- Disable IPv6 on your router if it's enabled, as some HP printers struggle with this setting.
- Enable DHCP on your router to ensure automatic IP address assignment.
- Check if your router has any MAC address filtering enabled and make sure the printer's MAC address is allowed.
7. Use USB for Initial Setup
- If the Wi-Fi setup fails, you can initially connect the printer using a USB cable and set it up via the HP Smart app. After the setup, disconnect the USB cable and reconnect to Wi-Fi.
8. Perform a Hard Reset
- As a last resort, perform a hard reset on the printer by turning it off, unplugging it for 60 seconds, and then plugging it back in.
