I just got a used HP DeskJet 3700 printer and I’m trying to log into the Wi-Fi for the printer and it wants me to put in a password and I don’t have it. What do I do?

Hi @Leslie0814,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're setting up your HP DeskJet 3700 printer and it’s asking for a Wi-Fi password, it's likely asking for the password of your Wi-Fi network, not a specific printer password. Here’s what you can do.

Check the Wi-Fi Network Password:

  • Make sure you know the password for your Wi-Fi network. This is typically the password you use to connect other devices, like your smartphone or laptop, to the Wi-Fi.

Reset Network Settings on the Printer:

  • If the printer was previously connected to a different network, you might need to reset its network settings. To do this:
    • Turn on the printer.
    • Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons together for 3 seconds. This will reset the network settings on the printer.

Reconnect the Printer to Your Wi-Fi:

  • After resetting the network settings, you’ll need to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
    • On the printer, press and hold the Wireless button until it starts blinking.
    • On your computer or smartphone, open the HP Smart app.
    • Follow the prompts to add a new printer and connect it to your Wi-Fi network. You’ll need to enter your Wi-Fi password during this process.

Use Wi-Fi Direct (if you don’t have a Wi-Fi network available):

  • If you're not connecting the printer to a Wi-Fi network, you can use Wi-Fi Direct to print directly from your device.
    • Press and hold the Wireless and Information buttons together to print a Wi-Fi Direct information page. This will have the Wi-Fi Direct name and password.
    • On your device, connect to the Wi-Fi Direct network (e.g., "HP-Print-XX-DeskJet 3700").
    • Enter the password from the Wi-Fi Direct information page.

This should allow you to connect your HP DeskJet 3700 to your Wi-Fi network or use Wi-Fi Direct for printing.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
