Hi @bluric,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like there might be a compatibility issue between your Windows 11 installation and the printer drivers. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue.
- Check Printer Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your desktop PC via USB cable or through a network connection if it's a wireless printer.
- Restart Devices: Sometimes, a simple restart of both your PC and the printer can resolve connectivity issues.
- Update Printer Drivers: Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your HP Laser Jet Pro MFP M29w printer. You can download the drivers from the official HP website.
- Compatibility Mode: Try running the printer driver installer in compatibility mode for Windows 10 or an earlier version that is known to be compatible.
- Windows Update: Check for any pending Windows updates. Sometimes, updates can include fixes for printer-related issues.
- Printer Spooler Service: Restart the Print Spooler service on your PC. You can do this by typing "services.msc" into the Windows search bar, finding the Print Spooler service in the list, right-clicking on it, and selecting "Restart."
- Printer Troubleshooter: Windows has built-in troubleshooting tools that can help diagnose and fix printer problems. You can access them by going to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Printer.
- Printer Firmware Update: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes, firmware updates can address compatibility issues with newer operating systems.
- Check Printer Settings: Ensure that the printer is set as the default printer on your PC and that there are no print jobs stuck in the print queue.
- Firewall/Antivirus: Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software you have installed on your PC and try printing again. Sometimes, these programs can block printer communications.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
