Hi @JoeD123 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand switching internet providers can introduce connectivity issues if the new network has different settings or configurations. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610:

1. Check Network Compatibility

Ensure that your new AT&T Air router operates on a 2.4 GHz band. Many printers, including the HP OfficeJet Pro 8610, only support 2.4 GHz networks and cannot connect to 5 GHz networks.

  • Log in to your router's admin panel (typically accessible through a browser by entering the IP address on the back of the router) to check or enable the 2.4 GHz band.
  • Ensure the network SSID (name) for 2.4 GHz is visible and unique.

2. Reconnect the Printer to WiFi

Reset Network Settings on the Printer:

  • On the printer's control panel, go to Setup > Network Settings > Restore Network Settings.
  • Confirm and let the printer reset.

Reconnect to WiFi:

  • From the printer, go to Setup > Network > Wireless Setup Wizard.
  • Select your new WiFi network from the list.
  • Enter the WiFi password (case-sensitive).

3. Ensure Router Settings Allow the Printer to Connect

  • MAC Address Filtering: Check if MAC address filtering is enabled on your router. If so, add the printer’s MAC address to the allowed list.
  • Firewall Settings: Temporarily lower the router's security level to ensure it’s not blocking the printer.

4. Assign a Static IP Address

If the printer is still unable to connect, try assigning a static IP address:

  1. Open the router's admin panel and access the DHCP settings.
  2. Assign a static IP to the printer's MAC address (usually listed in the printer's network settings or label).
  3. Use the printer's control panel to manually set this static IP under Wireless Settings > IP Configuration.

5. Restart All Devices

  1. Turn off the printer, router, and computer.
  2. Power them back on in the following order:
    • Router (wait until fully operational).
    • Printer (attempt to connect to WiFi again).
    • Computer.

6. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

Ensure the printer firmware is up to date, as older firmware might not support newer router configurations:

  1. Connect the printer to your computer using a USB cable temporarily.
  2. Download the firmware update from the HP Support website.
  3. Follow the instructions to update.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
