HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Several months ago my "scan" function stopped working.  I can still print wireless.  Whether I try to connect wireless or via ethernet I keep getting an IP address when I type it in as indicated on the printer that says it is an Auto-IP.  Why do I keep getting this and how can I resolve?  Is it my service provider or other.  I have restarted everything multiple times to no avail.

@Harry140, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I see that you are not able to scan. Scan functionality is not affected by an auto assigned IP address. Which app do you use to scan?

What error do you get?

If you are able to print, it means the printer is connected fine to the network.

An IP address is assigned automatically by your router. We can assign a static IP address to the printer if the printer is facing network connectivity issue. However, in this case, it is not required.

Use the HP Smart app to scan. Download it from the Microsoft Store.

For more info on scanning, refer to How to scan with an HP printer

Hope this helps! Let me know how it goes.
