HP LaserJet Pro MFP M29w Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have moved this printer to a new location and must now connect to a different wifi.  I followed the instructions to reset the wifi connection and the wifi light is blinking.   However the Wireless Network Test Report that printed when I reset the printer shows "Fail" for the Network Name (SSID) Found.

How can I get it to connect to the new wifi?

Hi @gdstuart4119,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M29w printer is having trouble connecting to the new Wi-Fi network, you can follow these steps to troubleshoot and set up the connection.

Reset Network Settings:

  • Ensure that the printer is turned on.
  • Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer until the Wireless light starts blinking.

Print Wireless Network Test Report:

  • Once the Wireless light is blinking, press the "Cancel" button to print a Wireless Network Test Report.
  • Check the report for any errors or information about the current network settings.

Verify Wi-Fi Settings:

  • Make sure that your Wi-Fi network is functioning correctly, and the printer is within range of the Wi-Fi router.
  • Double-check the SSID (Wi-Fi network name) and password you are entering.

Manual Wi-Fi Setup:

  • If the automatic setup fails, you may need to manually enter your Wi-Fi information into the printer.
  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to the wireless or network settings menu.
  • Select "Wireless Setup Wizard" or a similar option.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to enter the SSID and password for your new Wi-Fi network.

WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup):

  • If your router supports WPS, you can use this feature to connect the printer to the Wi-Fi network easily.
  • On the printer's control panel, select the WPS option and follow the instructions to complete the setup.

Update Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can check the HP support website for firmware updates for your specific printer model.

Factory Reset (if necessary):

  • As a last resort, you can perform a factory reset on the printer. Keep in mind that this will erase all custom settings.
  • Consult the printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
