i previously had the laser jet MFP M140 w connected to the Internet wirelessly now it says it can't be found. I tried to search for it but it's not in the product list provided by hp. Has anyone run across this issue? Any solutions? I've only used it twice.

Hi @Renee5774
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP LaserJet MFP 140w is having trouble reconnecting to your wireless network, and you are unable to find the model in the HP printer list during setup. Since you've successfully connected it before, this issue could be related to a network glitch, a reset in your printer settings, or a driver issue.
Here's how to troubleshoot and get your HP LaserJet MFP 140w back online wirelessly:
1. Power Cycle Your Printer and Router
- Turn off your printer using the power button, then unplug it for about 30 seconds to a minute.
- Turn off your router and unplug it for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and let it restart.
- Turn your printer back on after the router has rebooted.
2. Reset the Printer's Network Settings
- Turn on your printer.
- On the printer's control panel, **press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons at the same time for 5-10 seconds until the Wi-Fi light begins blinking.
- This will reset the wireless settings, and your printer should be ready to reconnect to a network.
After resetting, you'll need to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
3. Manually Connect the Printer to Wi-Fi via WPS
If your router supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), you can use this method to quickly reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network:
- Press the WPS button on your router. This is usually a physical button labeled "WPS" on your router.
- On your printer, press and hold the Wireless button until the Wi-Fi light starts blinking rapidly.
- The printer will automatically attempt to connect to the network via WPS. Wait until the light stops blinking and becomes solid, indicating that it is successfully connected to your Wi-Fi.
4. Reinstall or Update Printer Drivers
You mentioned that the printer doesn't show up in the HP list. You can try reinstalling or updating the printer drivers to fix this.
- Download the latest drivers and software for your HP LaserJet MFP 140w from the official HP website.
- Go to HP LaserJet MFP 140w Drivers and Downloads and search for your printer model.
- Download the drivers for your operating system (Windows or macOS).
- Once the drivers are installed, you should be able to add the printer manually by searching for it through the HP Smart app or directly through Windows Settings:
- On Windows, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners, click Add a printer or scanner, and let Windows search for the printer.
- If your printer is still not found, try selecting The printer that I want isn't listed and follow the instructions to manually add it using its IP address (you'll need the printer’s IP address for this).
5. Use HP Smart App to Set Up the Printer
If the HP LaserJet MFP 140w isn't showing up during the regular Windows or macOS printer setup, you can use the HP Smart app to reconnect the printer:
- Download and install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store (Windows) or Apple App Store (macOS/iOS).
- Open the app and follow the instructions to add the printer. Make sure your computer or phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.
- The app should detect the printer and allow you to set it up wirelessly.
6. Check for Firmware Updates
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
