I just got the Laserjet printer setup. I connected it to my wireless router. I was able to print pages. The next day, when I tried to print from my computer, it said the printer was offline. I then turned off wi-fi off on the printer console and turned the wifi again. After that, I was able to print.
I don't want to have to do this everythime I want to print. Can someone help troubleshoot this issue?
Thanks,
George

Most common reason for this is that the printer driver is configured to use a WSD (web services device) port on the printer driver. The problem with WSD is that it often does not detect a device after it has been asleep or detect when an error like out of paper has been fixed unless the device restarts. The best solution is to give the printer a static IP address and the configure the driver to use a standard TCP/IP port instead of a WSD port. You can check your driver by going on your PC to control panel>devices and printers and right clicking the icon for your printer and then selecting "printer properties" from the drop down menu. Click on the ports tab and then check the port type. Any port beginning with WSD will not be what you want. Click change port and then create a new port of the type TCP/IP and use the IP address you assigned to the printer as the port number when prompted for an IP address.

Thank you for your reply. I followed your steps and checked the properties of the printer on the control panel. Indeed it is using WSD.
Now, I'm going to hit you with another dumb question of the day, but how do I know what is the static IP address of the printer?
I did install the HP Smart application for Windows 10. There is an IP address when I hit the tab "Printer Information." Is that the correct static IP address?
Thank you again,
George
