Running latest iOS 17.5.1, running latest Mac OS Sonoma 14.5
Multiple devices, myself, visitors, anyone and everyone who is on my network and wants to print expereinces the issue.
The printer is connected to wifi network. WPA2 netowrk. Have tried both 2.4 and 5ghz and switching to print consistently.
Once the printer goes to sleep, no device can see it or wake it to printer. When I manually wake the device and run a wireless test, it says it's excellent. Still will not even show in HP Smart app. Will need to restart the machine manually 1-5 times. Then it will show back up.
Even when the device comes "back up" and I can see it is "idle" and green... ready to print! It will not print. I cannot re add the printer until it decides to show up. Again... multiple macs, windows, iPhones... for years. Never has this worked consistently. I print maybe once a week, so it's aggravating then, but since I don't print daily it has not made the top of my list of solving the problem.
Have run all firmware updates. This has honestly been going on for years. Bought from Costco, and just fed up with the fact I can't printer normally.

Hi @kyledela,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see that you are facing an issue with print on your printer.
A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.
1) Take out the cartridges
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges
B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware.
C) If the issue still persists, uninstall the printer software by following the steps from this link and restart the devices.
D) Install the printer software by clicking on the link again and let me know if that resolves the issue.
Note: Enable Bluetooth for an HP Smart app setup: Enable Bluetooth on your computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day

Hello.
thanks for these steps. I did go through them all just now, and they did not work.
at first after the restart I could print. But that’s usually what happens if I restart it and forget the network and readd it. Even though the network status paperwork states it’s connected and ready.
I printed successfully using AirPrint from multiple devices. HP smart was able to setup the printer on my Mac (which I had tried multiple times the other day and didn’t work). After 20mins. Tried to print something again and same issue. Unchanged. HP smart on phone and computer says unavailable. If I wake the printer I can confirm it’s connected to internet. It’s a 5 feet from my router. And still will not show up as available to print or even available in HP smart.
issue is not resolved.
