HP LaserJet Pro M203dw Printer

Tried every option to get the printer to connect to a new router. Used WPS, mobile app, reset, etc. Printer is less than 2 years old. How is that there is no support besides paying a monthly subscription? I just need to help get this connected.

Hi @jfolig

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Not to worry, I'll do my best to reconnect the printer to your new wireless network.

Let us try to restore the printer to the default network settings, and then use HP Smart to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Step 1:

Restore network default settings on the printer, to do that - Use the buttons on the printer control panel to restore Wi-Fi setup mode.

Press the Cancel button to ready the printer.

Press and hold the Information button for five seconds until the control panel buttons light.

Note:

Your control panel might look different than the following example, but the steps are the same.

Example of pressing the Info button for five seconds

Press the Wireless button and the Cancel button at the same time.

Example of pressing the Wireless and Cancel buttons at the same time

Wait 60 seconds until the Wireless button blinks blue continuously or the Status light pulses purple.

Within two hours, return to the app or software to find and add your printer and complete the setup.

Step 2:

Uninstall and re-install the HP Smart app on your computer/mobile device.

Place the printer and the computer or mobile device near the Wi-Fi router.

Turn on Wi-Fi on your computer or mobile device and connect to your network. If the computer is connected to the network with an Ethernet cable, temporarily disconnect the cable and use the Wi-Fi connection during the setup.

Enable Bluetooth on the computer or mobile device so that HP Smart can detect the printer during the setup.

After installing HP Smart for iOS and Android, enable the mobile device location service and allow the app to use your location to detect the printer and offer solutions during setup.

Download the HP Smart app from 123.hp.com (Android, Apple iOS, iPadOS).

In HP Smart, click Add Printer or the plus sign to search for the printer, and then follow the instructions to complete the setup.

Note: Router Compatibility Check:

Some mesh routers (like Eero or Orbi) default to 5 GHz only, which the M203dw doesn’t support:

Log into your router settings and enable 2.4 GHz band

If you are not sure of this please check with your ISP (Internet service provider).

Let me know if this helps!
