HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 All-in-One Printer
macOS 12.0 Monterey

My HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 is locked (I don't know my username or password, nor do I remember making one). I also had to reset my modem, and it's no longer connected to the internet. All of the resources I've found say to reset it from the printer's menu screen, but all those options are locked since the control panel has been limited. Now I can't use my printer at all!

Hi @ceebro_,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8035 is locked and you don't remember the username or password, and you can't access the menu options due to restrictions, here are some steps you can take to reset the printer to factory settings and reconnect it to the internet:

1. Perform a Hard Reset

A hard reset may help clear some settings and restore default configurations. Here's how to do it::

  • Make sure the printer is turned on.:
    • While the printer is on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
    • Leave the printer unplugged for at least 60 seconds.
    • Plug the power cord back into the printer and turn it on.

2. Restore Network Settings

Restoring network settings will reset the wireless settings to their default values::

  • From the home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon or open the Network setting:
    • Scroll down and select Restore Network Defaults.
    • Confirm the action if prompted.

3. Perform a Semi-Full Reset

If you can't access the control panel settings due to being locked out, you might need to perform a semi-full reset. This reset should restore the printer to factory settings, but it will also remove all custom settings and configurations::

  • Ensure the printer is turned on.:
    • On the printer's touchscreen, tap the back button (arrow) four times. This action should open a hidden support menu.:
    • Navigate to the Reset menu.:
    • Select Semi-Full Reset and confirm the action. The printer will restart.

4. Reconnect to Wi-Fi

After the reset, reconnect your printer to your Wi-Fi network:

  • From the home screen on the printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon.
  • Select Wireless Settings and then Wireless Setup Wizard:
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to select your Wi-Fi network and enter the network password.

5. Reinstall Printer Software

Ensure you have the latest printer drivers and software installed on your computer:

  1. Download Software:
    • Visit the HP Support page for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8035.
  2. Install Software:
    • Download and install the full feature software and driver package.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
