HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e All-in-One Printer

For some reason I can access wifi direct or do a factory reset without a user name and password. AS far as I know I never created a user name and password. I'm wanting to know how to unlock my printer without that.

Hi @Afkalamazoo,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're locked out of your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e printer and don't remember the username or password, here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Try Default Credentials

Sometimes printers are set up with default credentials if a username and password weren’t explicitly set by you. For HP printers, the default login for the admin page is typically:

  • Username: admin
  • Password: admin or 123456

Try these first to see if they work.

Perform a Factory Reset

Since you mentioned being able to access WiFi Direct or a factory reset, here's how you can reset the printer to its default settings, which should unlock it:

  • Turn the printer off.
  • Press and hold the "Cancel" button (on the printer’s control panel) while turning the printer back on.
  • Keep holding the button for about 10 seconds until you see the screen change or the printer begins the reset process.
  • After the reset, all settings, including network settings and passwords, will return to their factory defaults.

Reset Using the Printer's Control Panel

  • On the printer, navigate to the Setup or Settings menu (depending on your model).
  • Choose Restore Defaults or Factory Reset (this might be under "Printer Maintenance" or similar).
  • This will reset all settings, including the username and password.

Access the Printer's Web Interface

If you can connect to the printer through Wi-Fi Direct (you mentioned this is accessible), you might be able to use the printer's Web Interface to reset settings:

  • Connect to the printer’s Wi-Fi Direct network from your computer or mobile device.
  • Open a browser and enter the printer's IP address (usually displayed on the printer’s screen when connected via Wi-Fi Direct).
  • You should be able to access the printer’s settings and make adjustments or reset the login credentials.

Use HP Smart App (if applicable)

  • Open the HP Smart app on your mobile device or computer.
  • If the printer is still connected, you might be able to manage the printer's settings, including resetting or unlocking it.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
